HOMETOWN CHRISTMAS EVENTS

 

Illumination of the Greenbelt

Enjoy the City of Maryville Tree Lighting ceremony at its new location at the new pedestrian bridge at Pistol Creek Station leading to the Library.  The program will feature music, refreshments, visits with Santa Claus and more.  Event is free.

Festival of Trees

The lawn of the Blount County Courthouse will be illuminated with a display of live Christmas trees of all sizes, colors and decorative themes. This unique month-long event allows the community to enjoy the festival either by driving by or walking through for a closer look.  The official opening of the Festival will take place on the Courthouse lawn and will include music, refreshments, visits with Santa Claus and train rides for the children.  For information on entering a tree in the festival, please contact Cookie Crowson at the Parks & Rec. Office at 983-9244.  Event is free.

Springbrook Splendor

Celebrate the lighting of the City of Alcoa Christmas Tree in the Upper Fields area of Springbrook Park, where the trails will be lit with luminaria. Following the ceremony, there will be special music, refreshments, visits with Santa Claus and train rides for the children.  Event is free.

Martin Luther King Center Holiday Event

The Martin Luther King Community Center and the Hall Oldfield Maryville Empowerment, Inc. will host a H.O.M.E. for Christmas event and the community is invited to attend.  This event, which has been added to the schedule of Hometown Christmas events will include the official lighting of the Center’s Christmas Tree and other holiday themed items on the grounds of the Center which will remain lit through January 2nd.  Musical performances will be included in the celebration with light refreshments available to those attending.  Event is free.

 

6:00 – 7:00 PM  Light refreshments and musical performances

7:15 PM  Lighting of the Martin Luther King Community Center Tree

7:15 – 8:00 PM  Fellowship, fun and activities for the children

 

 

Santa Calls

Children in Blount County can enjoy a very special telephone call from Santa Claus free of charge thanks to the continued support of volunteers from the Maryville-Alcoa Civitan Club who provide special phone lines from the North Pole.

3–5 year olds – Date to be announced.

 

6–7 year olds – Date to be announced.

Time:

All calls are made between the hours of 5–9 PM

Registration:

Call Parks & Rec. to obtain a form after November 3.
