  Refund Policy for Programs

REFUND POLICY FOR PROGRAMS

Refunds may be given up to five (5) working days prior to the beginning of each program. If your cancellation causes the program number to fall below the required minimum, the refund will be contingent upon the vacancy being filled. After classes begin, refunds will be made for the following reasons only: 1) Illness or Injury 2) Moving from the Blount County area 3) Cancellation of the program by Parks & Rec. Refunds will be prorated according to the number of classes already held.  All refunds are subject to a $5.00 administrative cost charge, unless the program has been cancelled by Parks & Rec.

WAGON WHEELERS WESTERN SQUARE DANCERS FOR ALL AGES

This group meets the first four Tuesdays of every month at 7:30 PM at the

 Springbrook Recreation Center in Alcoa in the upstairs Dance Room.

If you are interested in learning Western Square Dance, new classes will be offered in September.

Rain Policy:  All participants are responsible for calling Parks & Rec.

Occasionally, decisions will need to be made at the courts.

A make-up class will be held for each class cancelled with the make-up date determined by the instructor.

2008 RUBY TUESDAY’S TRIPLE CROWN OF RUNNING

Parks & Rec. is proud to announce this tenth-year event

held in partnership with Ruby Tuesday’s Corporation as sponsor.

This event consists of the Spring Sprint (April 12), the Scholars Run (Aug. 16) and the Reindeer Run (Dec. 7).

To be eligible for the Triple Crown cash awards and a special memento, participants must compete in all three races.  To be eligible to win door prizes valued at a minimum of $100, participation in two races is required.

Both runners and walkers at each event are eligible for great door prizes.

 

 

YOGA IN THE PARK

Enjoy the beautiful outdoor setting of Springbrook Park while experiencing the peace and openness that Yoga has to offer.  In this Beginner-level Yoga class, you will explore proper Yoga postures while cultivating awareness of your body and breath, which will help reduce stress, quiet the mind, and improve your physical strength.  Join us as we take a journey to better understanding and belief in ourselves.  Participants are asked to wear comfortable clothing and to not eat a heavy meal before the class.  Class available for Ages 12 and older.

To encourage physical activity, offer a mental break,

and provide something simple and fun that employees and families can do together!

Participants can walk in any safe walking area in Blount County or join us at our special event site at the Pistol Creek Station area of the Greenbelt (at the Blount County Library Pedestrian Bridge).

IF YOU CHOOSE TO COME TO THE EVENT SITE:

We encourage downtown business employees to walk to the site!

  For those who are not within walking distance, parking is available at the Library (outer perimeter),

parking garages on Harper Avenue, or at any of the Greenbelt Parking areas nearby.

Parks & Rec. has partnered with the Maryville Isshinryu School to offer the following classes to youth and adults. This school, the oldest in Blount County, is the only school accredited by the International Isshinryu Karate Association.  Benefits of Karate include self-defense, as well as increased flexibility, concentration, balance, self-discipline and self-respect.
