YOUTH DAY CAMPS

 

Parks & Rec. offers a variety of youth day camps that are normally held during the month of June each summer (a brief description of each camp is listed below):

SPORTS & MORE KIDS CAMP

For Ages 5-14

Campers of all skill levels will participate in an exciting sports-filled day.  Sports stations will be set-up to give children the opportunity to experience as many different activities as possible.  Campers will focus on teamwork, individual achievement, and sportsmanship.  Our goal is to give your child the most positive sports experience possible, while keeping it "Fun".  A speed and agility component will be added to the morning session for Ages 12-14.  Campers should bring lunch and drinks each day.  No food available on site except for snacks, which will be available to purchase.

YOUTH DRAMA CAMP

For Ages 6-12

Campers will participate in activities including storytelling, movement, acting and theater games.  Older campers will experiment with pantomime, character and scene interpretation, voice, reader's theatre, stages areas and body positions. Performing experience is not required.  A performance will be held on Friday at Maryville High School Theater.  Campers will be dropped off and picked up at Everett Recreation Center Monday through Thursday and at Maryville High School on Friday.  A snack, lunch and water bottle should be brought each day.

SOFTBALL CAMP

For Rising 3rd-8th Graders

Participants will learn the fundamentals of throwing, fielding, hitting, base running and sliding.  Campers should bring cleats and tennis shoes, glove, softball pants or sweats (for sliding drills), bat and helmet (optional).  Campers should bring a snack and water bottle each day.

SOCCER CAMP

For Ages 6-12

This camp will provide technical and tactical instruction with emphasis being based upon individual ball control and skill development.  Campers should bring a water bottle each day.

MARSH MADNESS BASKETBALL CAMP

For Boys & Girls Ages 6-13

Campers will learn valuable skills at their respective positions and basic fundamentals of the game of basketball.  Boys and girls will be instructed separately. Limited space available. Campers should bring lunch or may purchase something from the concession stand.

GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL CAMP

For Rising 6, 7, 8 & 9th Graders

This camp, intended for all player levels, is designed to teach and enhance one's volleyball skills and overall performance on the court.  Participants will be grouped according to age if numbers allow.  Camp instruction will be given by the Maryville College Volleyball Coaching Staff, players and former players.  Campers should bring a snack and a water bottle each day.

"JUST GET OUTDOORS"

ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS CAMP

 For Ages 8-13

This is a fun, outdoor camp that teaches about our environmental surroundings in a fun and positive atmosphere.  Campers will learn about stream and forest ecology with emphasis on plant and animal biology and animal signs and tracking in a fun camp setting that also includes nature crafts.  A field trip to the Smoky Mountains will take place on the last day of camp.  A snack, lunch and water bottle should be brought each day.

CAMP CHICKABABA DAY CAMP

For Disabled Persons Ages 6 Years & Older

This camp includes therapeutic and fun activities adapted for those with disabilities.  Activities include arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor games, music, swimming, ability appropriate field trips and more.  Campers should a bring lunch and drink each day. Space is limited each week. Registration accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis with 2010 campers given first priority until May 20. After that time, new participants will be accepted as space allows.

 EAST TENNESSEE QUARTERBACK & RECEIVER SCHOOL

For Rising 6-8th Graders

The purpose of this camp is to provide instruction related to passing and receiving the football. The camp will focus on introducing drills and techniques that will help develop skills related to Quarterback and Receiver play. No food available on site except for snacks, which will be available to purchase. Campers need to bring a water bottle, cleats, and tennis shoes for indoor Plyometric training each day.
