Refund Policy for Programs

Refunds may be given up to five (5) working days prior to the beginning of each program. If your cancellation causes the program number to fall below the required minimum, the refund will be contingent upon the vacancy being filled. After classes begin, refunds will be made for the following reasons only: 1) Illness or Injury 2) Moving from the Blount County area 3) Cancellation of the program by Parks & Rec. Refunds will be prorated according to the number of classes already held. All refunds are subject to a $5.00 administrative cost charge, unless the program has been cancelled by Parks & Rec.

  • Games will be played on Sunday afternoons at the Everett Athletic Complex beginning September 7 and will continue for 8 weeks.
  • Children will begin practicing two weeks prior to the start of the season and will practice 2 times per week.  Once the season begins, only 1 practice will be held per week on Sundays prior to games.

    Parks & Rec. offers two youth soccer seasons each year; in the spring and fall.  Registration for spring league is normally taken the entire month of February with the season beginning the first of April and continuing for 6 weeks.  Registration for fall league is normally taken the entire month of July, with the season beginning in September and continuing for 8 weeks.  Two programs are offered, Soccer for Fun for 4 year-olds and Youth Soccer for Ages 5-16 (please see additional information regarding each league below).

    Soccer for Fun
    for 4 Year-Olds

    Soccer for Fun is a fundamental, non-competitive introduction to the game of soccer and a great way to introduce your child to this popular sport. Children are randomly divided into groups and will be involved in drills along with playing small-sided scrimmage games for one hour on Saturdays for 6 weeks. Shin guards are required. Games are played at Everett Athletic Complex.

    Dates: Saturdays beginning September 14th for 6 weeks

    Soccer for Ages 5-16

    Be a part of the world's most popular sport!  Youth soccer is an excellent way to develop motor skills. This program is available for boys and girls Ages 5-16 and will include "all-girls/all-boys" leagues through Age 12. Each participant will play in every game. Ages 5-6 will play "small-sided" soccer. Games are played at Everett Athletic Complex for Ages 5-9 and at Pearson Springs Park for Ages 10-16.

    Dates: September 7th and will continue for 8 weeks

  • Children will practice 1-2 times per week, which tentatively begins several weeks prior to the season, at an area park.

  • Karate

    Parks & Rec. has partnered with Maryville Isshinryu Karate School to offer the following classes to both youth and adults. They are the oldest martial arts school in Blount County and are accredited by the International Isshinryu Karate Association. Participants will learn self defense, sparring techniques, kata and much more. Benefits of Karate include confidence, flexibility, concentration, balance, discipline and respect.

    Healthy Blount Triple Crown of Running

    Triple Crown Rules

    This event consists of the Spring Sprint (April 12), the Scholars Run (Aug. 9) and the Reindeer Run (Dec. 7).  To be eligible for the Triple Crown cash awards and a special memento, participants must compete in all three races.  To be eligible to win door prizes valued at a minimum of $100, participation in two races is required. Both runners and walkers at each event are eligible for great door prizes.

    Scholars Run 5K Road Race & 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk

    This event is a 5K (3.1-miles) road race and 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk and is the second event of the Healthy Blount Triple Crown of Running. The race begins and ends on the Maryville College campus. A portion of the proceeds from this race will fund two annual student scholarships sponsored by the Foothill Striders, Inc. Individual and team competition will take place. Special awards will be given to the Overall and Masters winners, the top three finishers in each age division, and to the top three teams in the 5K. All Fun Run/Walk participants will receive a ribbon.

    This run, which is the final leg of the Healthy Blount Triple Crown of Running, is a 5K (3.1 miles) and a 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk. A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to the Empty Pantry Fund. Awards will be given to the Overall and Masters winners and the top three finishers in each age division. Prizes will also be given to the best male and female Christmas costume. All Fun Run/Walk participants will receive a ribbon. The Triple Crown of Running award ceremony will take place at this event.

    Sewing Classes For Kids

    This class series will work through the basics of sewing, starting with how to thread a needle and other basic hand sewing techniques. We will end the class with an introduction to machine sewing and each child will leave with a complete sewing kit of their own and a variety of other completed projects including, (but not limited to): button tree hoop decoration, small pillow, stuffed animal, quiet play game and tote bag! All necessary materials are included in the class fee, and you will have a great time making your own unique creations! Note: Due to purchase of materials, registration will end Monday, August 11.     Students will create fun projects as well as learn hand-building techniques such as coiling, pinching and slab work. Each class is unique and small in size. Students receive personal attention from instructor through the step-by-step process of making a pot, decorating, glazing and firing. Each class is project based and students will make a variety of bowls, dishes and sculptural art pieces. All work goes through two kiln firings; the second firing will make the pottery safe for food and drink, as well as use in the microwave and dishwasher. We use only health-approved clays and glaze-materials. Class includes clay and all firing and glaze materials.

      These classes include fun, monthly themes that let your child learn the fun sport of gymnastics while expanding their imaginations. Music is used to expand on each month’s theme with dancing, singing, rhythm sticks, and musical instruments. Brain Power and brain building exercises are incorporated each month to stimulate left and right brain activity, sensory awareness, fine motor skills, and kindergarten readiness skills. Gymnastic Skills are taught in proper progressions on bright, colorful preschool equipment with all equipment designed and sized for young hands and feet. Participants will learn beginner through intermediate skills on bars, beams, trampolines, and vaulting, as well as learn and enhance many of the gross motor skills needed. Classes are taught by qualified adult instructors, each with over 20 years of teaching experience.

      This class will teach and enhance skills involving handstands, cartwheels, one-arm cartwheels and bridges for both the very beginner and intermediate students. Intermediate students will also work on round-offs, backbend kick-overs, and front and back handsprings. Classes are taught with proper skill progression for the safety of the child and with enthusiasm and motivation – never intimidation. Children that are 5 years old must have started Kindergarten.

      This class is designed to teach the more advanced skills of the back handspring, round-off back handsprings, standing backtuck and front handsprings. Students in this class should have a good round-off and be able to do a back walk-over with a spot. Drills such as handstands, bridge kick-overs and jump backs will be repeated in this class to help students become a stronger tumbler.

      “Tiny Tot” Triathlon

      Bring your “tiny tot” (Ages 3-6) for a fun afternoon of kid-friendly triathlon activities! Event course is modified for this age group level. Preschoolers will run, bike, and get “wet” as they make their way to the finish line where everyone receives a medal! This unique event is recreational (and not competitive) and encourages young kids to get out and get active! Bring a bicycle or tricycle (with helmet) and wear tennis shoes and comfortable athletic clothing that can get wet at the end! A family member must assist their child as they make their way through the course. Parents should wear comfortable athletic clothing as well. No swimming will take place, but participants will get “wet” as they make their way towards the finish line!

      Basketball for Fun is a low-key, non-competitive approach to the game of basketball. Available to boys and girls 5 years old, this is a great introductory approach to learn the fundamentals of the game. The program meets for one hour on Saturdays for six (6) weeks.

      Policy for Reserving Practice Fields

      This policy pertains to Little League teams and all other teams not participating in the Parks & Rec Adult Softball League. Click here for Parks & Rec teams' policy.

        Reservations for practice fields are taken every Thursday, beginning March 13 through late August.  Otherwise, fields are first come, first served unless being used by Parks & Rec programs such football and soccer. Teams should call at 10:00 a.m. so that everyone has the same opportunity.  If you call before 10:00 a.m., you will be asked to call back, so please synchronize your watch with Parks & Rec's!  Please note that field reservations are taken by phone only. No walk-ins please. Our phone lines will be very busy, so if you don't get through, please try again.  When you call on Thursday, you will be reserving times for the following week (beginning the next day Friday through the following Thursday). Teams can reserve 1 field per week for 1 1/2 hours (M-F) or 2 hours (Sat. & Sun.) according to availability. Reservations are taken for the following fields: two at Everett Park, three at Sandy Springs Park (one being a small baseball field), two at Pole Climbers, one at Springbrook Park, and two at Pearson Springs Park (available week-ends only) for Ages 12 & under. Teams are encouraged to pick-up a Field Permit from the Parks & Rec Admin. Office to take with you to practice which shows you have the field reserved.  Without your permit, you have no proof you have the field reserved!
