Blount County Sports Hall of Fame

To nominate a person for the Blount County Sports Hall of Fame, a completed nomination form along with a resume of the candidate's accomplishments (please see details below) must be sent to the Maryville-Alcoa-Blount County Parks and Recreation Commission at 316 S. Everett High Road, Maryville, TN 37804. Nomination forms are available through the "Nomination Form" button below or at the Parks & Rec. office. The deadline to submit nominations for each year's class is the first Friday of March. Anyone needing further information, should contact Parks & Rec. at 865-983-9244.Included in the resume should be all sports activities, honors, and any other accomplishments in which the nominee gained notoriety during his/her career whether it be as participant, coach, official, administrator, promoter, supporter, organizer, or a person otherwise involved. Examples of information needed include, but is not limited to, individual honors such as "All Region" or "All State", any records the individual set, names of any championships played for or won, records of teams individually coached, or number of years involved in his/her particular sport.

This year's Blount County Sports Hall of Fame Induction Banquet will be held on Monday, October 27th. The attire is business casual.  Check or cash only please. Please make checks payable to the BLOUNT COUNTY SPORTS HALL OF FAME. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED, and must be made by contacting the Parks & Rec Office at 865-983-9244 no later October 20th.  In lieu of actual tickets, staff will be present the evening of the banquet with a list of honorees and all others who have paid.  We will make every effort to seat family and friends in close proximity.  However, names received after the above date will be placed according to available seating.Those being inducted include: Missy Barker-Johnson, Caylan Elliott, John Emert, Joe Emert, Todd Hannum, Gaye Hasty, Andy Howdeshell, Danny Maples, Loren Riddick, and Bo Spears. This year's Special Olympic Athlete of the Year is Noah Prats. “Greatest Teams” that will also be recognized at this year’s induction banquet include: 1991-92 Alcoa High School Boys' Basketball Team and 1977-78 Porter High School Girls' Basketball Team. Our Legend of the Past is V.F. Goddard.
