Parks & Rec. offers a variety of day camps each summer in June and July.  Complete details below (but are subject to change).  Refer to our refund policy for information on class withdrawals and cancellations.

"JUST GET OUTDOORS"
NATURE ADVENTURE CAMP

(Ages 8-12)
This is a fun, outdoor camp that teaches participants about our environmental surroundings in a fun and positive atmosphere. Campers will learn about stream and forest ecology with emphasis on plant and animal biology and animal signs and tracking in a fun camp setting that also includes nature crafts.

A snack, lunch, and water bottle should be brought each day. Rain gear and an extra set of clothes should be brought in a bag with the child’s name on it the first day and left with the camp director.

This camp includes therapeutic and fun activities adapted for those with disabilities. Activities include arts & crafts, indoor and outdoor games, music and more. Campers should bring a snack and drink each day.

The purpose of this camp is to provide instruction related to passing and receiving the football. The camp will focus on introducing drills and techniques that will help develop skills related to Quarterback and Receiver play. Sports drinks and water will be available to purchase on site. Campers are welcome to bring healthy snacks and/or their own drinks, but breaks will be short.  Campers should bring a water bottle, cleats, and tennis shoes for indoor Plyometric training each day.  Quarterbacks must provide their own football.

The purpose of this camp is to provide specific instruction related to positions played along the offensive and defensive lines. The camp will focus on introducing drills and techniques that will help develop the necessary skills to be a successful lineman on either side of the ball. Sports drinks and water will be available to purchase on site. Campers are welcome to bring healthy snacks and/or their own drinks, but breaks will be short.  Campers should bring a water bottle, cleats, and tennis shoes for indoor Plyometric training each day.

FUTURE STARS FOOTBALL
SKILLS CAMP

(Rising 2nd - 5th Graders)
The purpose of this camp is to provide basic fundamental instruction for all offensive and defensive positions relating to the game of football. Our goal is that each camper gains a better understanding of the football positions that they are interested in through various skills and drills. There will be a 20-minute break between the defensive and offensive instruction at which time snacks and drinks will be available to purchase. Campers need to bring a water bottle, cleats, tennis shoes, and a bag to keep personal belongings in each day. Quarterbacks are encouraged to bring their own league regulation ball if they have one with their name on.

Girls volleyball camp (Rising 5th-9th Graders)

This camp, intended for beginner to intermediate levels, is designed to teach and enhance one’s volleyball skills and overall performance on the court. The camp will also prepare students for school try-outs. Participants will be grouped according to age/abilities if numbers allow.  Campers should bring a snack and a water bottle with their name on it each day. Attire: T-shirt, shorts, tennis shoes, knee pads (preferred but optional).

Superhero academy

For Ages: 3-8

Suit up heroes - It's time to train! Superhero Academy is three days of high-energy fun where kids discover their powers, tackle exciting challenges, and save the day through imagination and movement.
DAY 1: POWER TRAINING! Leap, balance, climb, and zoom through superhero skill stations designed to build strength, agility, and confidence. DAY 2: HERO MISSIONS! Team up for obstacle course rescues, relay races, and problem-solving adventures that bring out every child's inner hero. DAY 3: SUPERHERO SHOWCASE! Come dressed as your favorite hero (or create your own) and shine during our action-packed celebration of bravery, kindness, and teamwork.

Campers of all skill levels can participate in this exciting sports-filled camp.  Sports stations will be set-up to give children the opportunity to experience as many different activities as possible. Campers will focus on teamwork, individual achievement, and sportsmanship.  Our goal is to give your child the most positive sports experience possible, while keeping it fun! The purpose of this camp is to provide instruction related to competing in track and field. The camp will focus on introducing drills and techniques that will help develop speed, proper running form, success in field events (shot put, discus, long jump, high jump, and triple jump), and other important necessities for competing in track and field, and will include instruction for both sprinters and distance competitors. Campers will need to bring a water bottle or something to drink.

PERFORMING ARTS CAMP

(Ages 8-13)
This is a popular camp for the young performing artist! Campers will develop skills that will last a lifetime as they learn a variety of performing arts skills: theater, dance, music, prop making/design and more taught by professionals in each area.

Registration and information on the instructors, staff, and daily schedule will be available mid-March. Space is limited, so early registration is highly recommended. Campers should bring a snack, lunch, and water bottle each day.

NEW! sPORTS PERFORMANCE CAMP

(Rising 6th - 8th Graders)
The Parks and Rec Sports Performance Camp for rising 6th-8th Graders is a foundational strength and conditioning camp targeting all aspects of sports performance.  Basic linear speed mechanics, sport specific agility drills, foot speed, plyometrics, reaction and quickness, prehabilitation, strength training and joint mobility will be the focus of the camp.  The goal of this 6-session training camp is to teach and give each athlete an age-appropriate, holistic training program they can use to enhance performance regardless of season and experience. In addition to training, Jenna Waters (RD) will be on hand to educate and equip parents with proper nutrition plans to complement their athletes during the training process.  Please email Coach Brandon Waters at brandon.waters@maryville-schools.org

GIVE IT A TRI – YOUTH SPRINT
TRIATHLON CAMP

(For Ages 8-12)
Has your child ever been curious about triathlon or multisport? Give It a Tri is a fun, supportive introduction to swimming, biking, and running- designed specifically for youth athletes ages 8-12. Led by Camp Director Coach Kat Uchman, USA Triathlon Certified and Olympic Cycling Coach and Assistant Prime Aquatics Coach and former D1 Swimmer, this camp gives young athletes the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of triathlon in a safe, encouraging environment. Athletes of all ability levels are welcome- no prior triathlon experience required. Throughout the week, participants will practice all three disciplines and learn how to transition between them. The camp concludes with a Mock Triathlon on Thursday, where athletes will put their new skills together in a fun, confidence-building event. Family and friends are invited to attend and cheer them on during our race on Thursday. Camp Highlights: Age-appropriate instruction in swimming, biking, and running. Emphasis on skill development, safety, and confidence. Small group coaching from experienced triathlon staff. Mock Triathlon on the final day. Camp Keepsake included. Participant Requirements: Must be able to swim one full length (50 meters) of John Sevier Pool without assistance. Must be able to ride and stop a bicycle confidently without training wheels or assistance. Bike and helmet are required (training will take place in parking lots and on low-traffic community streets). Athletes do not need to be proficient runners to participate.
