(Ages 11-15)
Musical comedies involve singing, acting, and movement. Come learn the basics as we stage several scenes that always end in a song (of course)! You may discover a song you can use in a future audition!
The 2023 Musical will be:
The Pied Piper of Hamelin
Books & Lyrics by Ric Averill
Music by Adrian Rees
Produced by special arrangement with The Dramatic Publishing Company of Woodstock, Illinois
This fun musical comedy/farce features a cast of rats and cats, in a setting of a backstage theater space. A theatre cat invites other cats (and rats) to join in his own version of The Pied Piper of Hamelin. Although registrants may audition for specific roles, everyone participating will be cast in the final production. On the last day of camp, friends and family are invited to see the show! Details on production time and location will be provided.
New this year, we are also including positions for “behind the scenes” participants. Not all positions in theatre are acting roles, and many participants prefer to be involved in areas such as stage managers, set crew, and other backstage roles. This summer, we are looking for stage managers (follow the script backstage, cue entrance/exits, distribute props, etc.) and stage hands (moving set pieces, front curtain) to assist in the production. You will be trained to assist the director and assure a smooth production!
Early registration is highly recommended. In order to help us learn the script and music quickly, participants will be sent information prior to camp.
Auditions for specific roles and interviews for backstage participants will be conducted prior to camp, and music/scripts will be provided for participants to learn before camp begins.
Campers should bring a snack, lunch and water bottle each day.
